Rackemann Appellate Case Becomes Basis for Bar Exam Question
August 17, 2011Last summer, Lauren Ottaway, a student at B.U. Law 2011, worked as a summer associate for the firm’s Trusts and Estates Department. She assisted on research in the case of Cosgrove v. Hughes, and attended the oral argument before the appeals court on November 5, 2010. The decision came down on February 5, 2011 in favor of our client, affirming the trial court’s grant of a summary judgment, and Hanson Reynolds, a director in the firm’s Trust and Estate Department, sent a copy of the opinion to Lauren.
This summer, Lauren graduated from B.U. Law School and took the Massachusetts Bar Exam on July 27 and 28. On the second day of the exam, she read the ninth essay question and broke into a smile. The majority of the facts of question No. 9, were the facts of Cosgrove v. Hughes! She even cited the case in her answer.
