Practice Focus

Mr. Tyler is the senior member of the firm’s Trusts and Estates Department. He also has extensive experience in real estate law.

Notable Experience

As past President and Director of Greater Boston Legal Services and as past Chairman and Director of Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association, Mr. Tyler has been active in expanding the availability of legal services to low income Boston area residents. He has also been an active member of the Boston Bar Association, serving on various committees, including service of two terms as an elected member of the Council. Over the years, he has coordinated successful efforts at statutory reform in Massachusetts in the areas of estate and income tax.

Professional Activities

  • Mr. Tyler has throughout his career maintained an active role in various capacities with a wide variety of civic, cultural and charitable organizations in the fields of healthcare, education, social services and historic preservation. He has served on the Executive Committee of Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the New England Deaconess Hospital and the national Fund for Medical Education, and as Overseer and past Chairman of Boston Biomedical Research Institute. He has held the position of Board Chairman of The Bostonian Society, The Rivers School, The Chewonki Foundation (Wiscasset, Maine) and The Boston Museum Project. He has also served as a Director of the of The Gore Place Society and as President of the 1255th Engineer Combat Battalion Association, a WWII unit which saw action in the ETO. He is presently serving as Board Chairman of The Pioneer Institute for Public Policy Research, Chairman Emeritus and Director of Boston Museum Project,as a founding Trustee of the American Independence Center (Exeter, NH), and as Coordinator of the Golden Circle Fund (50+ years since graduation) of Boston University Law School
