Rackemann Sponsors Caritas Communities Event to Benefit Veterans
On Wednesday, Nov 20, Caritas Communities held its 28th Annual Benefit Dinner at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. Caritas Communities is a charity that is dedicated to serving the housing needs of low-income individuals through the development and long term management of affordable rooming houses. Rackemann attorney Maura Murphy serves as Chair of the charity’s Board of Directors, and Rackemann, Sawyer & Brewster was a sponsor of the event.
Funds raised at the Benefit Dinner will be dedicated to expanding housing choices in the Boston area for veterans, the working poor and the chronically homeless. Caritas is currently in the process of developing Patriot Homes, a new property on D Street, in South Boston, which will provide affordable housing to low-income veterans and their families.
Caritas Communities’ Leo P. Corcoran Award for Humanitarian Excellence was presented at the dinner. The Honoree was Jack Connors, Jr., who was recognized for the transformative nature of his philanthropy in the Greater Boston community. Jack helps Iraq and Afghanistan veterans to rebuild their lives through his work and involvement with the Red Sox Foundation and MGH Home Base Program.
Rackemann, Sawyer & Brewster would like to congratulate Mr. Connors for receiving this recognition, as well as Maura Murphy and Caritas Communities for the success of their event.
